Conference Theme

The International Seminar on Urban Form, titled "Intelligences and Realities," serves as a meeting point highlighting the dynamic interplay between abstract thinking and the tangible reality of urban morphology. Under the banner of "Intelligences," it underscores the importance of transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity, integrating both local and global knowledge for a comprehensive understanding. Conversely, "Realities" seeks to showcase the diverse realities of urban contexts, acknowledging the multitude of factors influencing urban form, from social and cultural to economic and political aspects. This conference provides a comprehensive space to explore the complexity of urban morphology from various perspectives, integrating theory and practice to address contemporary challenges collaboratively and reflectively.

The conference will be organized under seven thematic axes that will be developed individually
under the section proposals of conference sessions.
Heritage, Culture and Identity in Urban Realities
Innovative Policies and Practices for Decision-making around Urban Form
Transfers and Trajectories of Intelligences in the Theory and History of Urban Form
Unveiling Urban Realities: Informality, Segregation, and Exclusion
Climate Change and Resilience in Uncertain Urban Realities
Integrating One Health Principles into Urban Form for Enhanced Well-being
Unlocking Urban Dynamics: Exploring Intelligences and Research Methods

Conference Track

Heritage, Culture, and Identity in Urban Realities
Boton 1

Exploring the interplay between heritage, culture, and identity within urban environments is essential for understanding the complexities of urban realities. This topic explores how different intelligences shape and are shaped by the cultural and historical dimensions of cities. By examining the preservation, adaptation, and reinterpretation of heritage in urban contexts, we aim to uncover the dynamic relationship between urban form and cultural identity.

Boton 2
Innovative Policies and Practices for Decision-making around Urban Form

Effective decision-making in urban planning and design requires intelligence in policy formulation and implementation. This topic examines innovative policies and practices that facilitate inclusive, participatory, and evidence-based decision-making processes in shaping urban form. By exploring case studies, best practices, and emerging trends, we aim to identify strategies for overcoming challenges and achieving sustainable urban development goals.

Boton 3
Transfers and Trajectories of Intelligences in the Theory and History of Urban Form

This topic focuses on tracing the trajectories of knowledge transfer and the evolution of intelligences in the theory and history of urban form. By examining the influences, adaptations, and innovations in urban theories and practices across time and space, we aim to illuminate the diverse intellectual pathways that have shaped urban realities. Through critical analysis and synthesis, we aim to uncover the underlying mechanisms that drive the transmission and transformation of urban intelligence.

Unveiling Urban Realities: Informality, Segregation, and Exclusion
Boton 4

Urban realities are often characterized by complex social dynamics, including informality, segregation, and exclusion. This topic explores the underlying causes and consequences of these phenomena, exploring their spatial manifestations and impacts on urban form. By critically examining power structures, inequalities, and marginalization, we aim to unveil the hidden realities of urban life and identify strategies for promoting inclusive and equitable urban environments.

Climate Change and Resilience in Uncertain Urban Realities
Boton 5

In the face of climate change and increasing urban uncertainties, intelligence in urban planning and design is crucial for enhancing resilience. This topic explores strategies and interventions aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and building adaptive capacity within urban environments. By integrating scientific insights, technological innovations, and community engagement, we aim to foster sustainable urban development that can withstand environmental challenges and promote resilient urban realities.

Integrating One Health Principles into Urban Form for Enhanced Well-being
Boton 6

Addressing the complex interconnections between human health, animal health, and the environment, this topic explores the integration of One Health principles into urban form. By examining how urban planning, architecture, and design can promote holistic well-being, we aim to foster healthier and more sustainable urban environments. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches, we seek to unlock the potential of urban form to enhance public health and quality of life.

Unlocking Urban Dynamics: Exploring Intelligences and Research Methods
Boton7

Understanding the dynamics of urban systems requires sophisticated intelligences and research methods. This topic explores innovative approaches and methodologies for studying urban form, dynamics, and transformations. By embracing interdisciplinary perspectives and leveraging advances in data analytics, spatial analysis, and visualization techniques, we aim to unlock new insights into the complexities of urban realities and inform evidence-based decision-making and planning processes.
